
Jayne Kooi
INSTRUCTOR
Jayne Kooi began her dance career at the age of 3 at her parents dance studio, Ken Peter Dance Express. She has had extensive training in all disciplines of dance throughout Canada and the United States. Jayne was the sole choreographer of the Canadian National Tap Team (International Dance Organization) in the children’s division from 2008-2012 and the junior division in 2012. The auditioned team competes at the Tap World Championships in Reisa, Germany amongst 90 nations spanning 6 continents.
She has performed all over Canada, United States, and Hamburg, Germany. Her choreography has won numerous awards throughout Canada and the United States. Some of her awards include regional and national awards at LADF, overall awards at Canadian Nationals, 5678, MOVE, View Dance Challenge, Jump and West Coast Dance Explosion.
Professional credits include: Rainbow Stage productions of; Brigadoon, Oklahoma, Sound of Music (Marta Von Trapp), Big the Musical, Good News, and Wizard of Oz. She has adjudicated the semi-finals and finals for Stars of Tomorrow and Kids Quest, as well as Moose Jaw’s invitational Dance Carnival. TV credits include YTV’s 2030 C.E. and Adventures of Shirley Holmes.
In addition to her performing arts career, Jayne has graduated with honours from the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Nursing with her RNBN. She is currently a clinical nursing instructor for the University of Manitoba and Brandon University. Jayne is excited to be able to share her knowledge and passion of dance with all of her students!
